Making history - the Yeezy Boost Collection
Developing a decent shoe collection isn’t rocket science - especially when you land the right support. That’s what Adidas also recognised in 2015 when they brought Kanye West, rapper and designer, into the mix. This partnership was significant considering Kanye had collaborated with Nike for many years to create new shoe collections. But fans were not to be disappointed, as the one-of-a-kind Yeezy Collection was born out of the new partnership between adidas and the famous musician.
Kanye West aka Yeezy
Yeezy, Yeezy, Yeezy: everyone is talking about these kicks and rightly so. Of course, it was the rapper himself who lent his name to these classic everyday trainers - Yeezy is actually Kanye West’s nickname. The Yeezy Boost 750 was the first trainer to release from this collaboration. It boasts a thick “boost” sole, simplistic colourway and the infamous strap over the laces. The drop was limited to only 9,000 pairs at the time, and they were available only in New York city via the adidas smartphone app. All of the Yeezy 750s were sold out within 10 minutes! Adidas latched onto the craze and subsequently released Yeezy Boost in other retail stores and boutiques.
Further, better, faster - Yeezy Boost 350
In as little as four months, the next sensation in footwear dropped: the adidas Yeezy Boost 350 - one of the most sacred and fastest selling trainers ever! A classic, deep trainer silhouette rather than a boot, the Yeezy 350 sports a primeknit upper and the infamous “boost” sole, offering maximum style and comfort. While fans camped out in front of stores to cop the popular Kanye West shoe, the trainer was awarded the coveted “2015 Shoe of the Year” prize. This recipe for success had to continue. And so it did. Following the release of the Yeezy 950 Duckboot for outdoor wear, 2016 saw the market debut of the latest generation - the Yeezy Boost 350 V2.
Yeezy Boost 350 V2 is synonymous with cool design and innovative ideas.
Staying true to the original Yeezy 350 design, Kanye West only made minor changes to details. With the Yeezy 350 V2, you can expect the same comfortable boost sole, loose-fitting material on the upper, and a somewhat different pattern with bold stripe featuring “SPLY-350” insignia on the side. The Yeezy 350 is particularly exciting as it comes in a wide range of colourways, making it a must-have athleisure trainer. In addition to black accents with different coloured stripes, the second version of the 350 is available in white, zebra style, simplistic grey or black with red lettering.
But the story of adidas, Kanye West and Yeezy Boost does not end here. When will the next Yeezy drop? Soon...are you as excited as we are?!
